I have had multiple appointments of various types with this office, and have left nearly every single one a little uncomfortable and frustrated. Their techs don't seem well-trained and their dentists treat my mouth like a Corolla at a Valvoline- rushed, and not very gentle. The receptionists are kind enough to your face, but I have heard them talk badly about patients they have just finished speaking to on the phone while other patients were in the waiting room. I work a customer service job, and I get it, sometimes you have to complain, but it's common courtesy to do that out of the earshot of patients. The dental care I received (when I actually recieved it) was alright, but I have left upset a few too many times for my liking. Really appreciated how transparent they were about insurance and pricing, though. I always left with an itemized list for recommended treatments.

I visited the Hyde Park office on Friday at 11:00 AM for a temporary bridge replacement and had a very disappointing experience. Although my appointment was scheduled for 11:00, I was not seen until 11:30. I have expressed to this office multiple times that I suffer from anxiety, especially regarding dental procedures, and on this visit I was alone, which made the experience even more stressful. When I was finally seen, there was little to no introduction from the dental assistant/hygienist, and I was not properly numbed before the procedure began. This resulted in unnecessary and excessive pain. After my temporary teeth were replaced, I repeatedly expressed that my bite felt off and that the fit did not feel right. Instead of addressing my concerns, I was essentially told that it “didn’t matter” because I have another appointment in two weeks for my permanent bridge. That response was dismissive and unacceptable. To make matters worse, my temporary tooth came out less than two hours after leaving the office. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was looking for a new dentist that would take my insurance as I recently had switched over to my own insurance, and I was excited when I found Dentist at Hyde Park, as I thought it was going to be a great fit. Keep in mind, I scheduled this appointment for a normal 6-month cleaning. I show up for my appointment 15 minutes early and proceed to sit in the waiting room for 40 minutes. The front desk administrator apologized and said they were running about 45 minutes to an hour behind schedule. Finally, after an hour in the waiting room, they take me back to a hygienist room. I then get taken for X-rays. The tech was polite but didn't really seem to know what she was doing. They then took me back to the prior room where I proceeded to wait for another 45 minutes without any interaction. Eventually, the dentist came in and reviewed my X-rays with me. He told me that I had a cavity that needed filled, and two old cavities that needed crowns. It had been over a year since I had been to the dentist, so I expected I may have a cavity, but not the extent he was stating. I take good care of my teeth. Awkward. I've been going here for a few years, and every time I have a forced reschedule, or I wait in the chair for over an hour (both have happened more often than not), I think "well, maybe they're just having a busy day." The hygienist (I think they only have one?? I think his name is Nic?) is phenomenal. The front desk seems like they're always getting hassled or something, like they're expecting me to yell at them, but I'm so not that kind of person. The dentists are fine, I haven't needed any real work from them over my visits, so it's hard for me to judge. Anyway, I hope Dentists at Hyde Park Plaza can hire a second hygienist and customers start being nicer to the front desk or something. Idk. I don't know what the answer is here. I'll keep giving them another chance. Maybe the hygienist will find a practice where he's better supported and I'll follow him there...
